The Naval Academy Preparatory School (NAPS) is a United States Navy institution located at the United States Naval Academy (USNA) campus in Annapolis, Maryland. Established in 1901, its primary purpose is to prepare midshipmen for admission to one of the U.S. service academies or officer candidate school, ensuring they possess the requisite academic and military skills. The program typically lasts a year, during which students take a rigorous curriculum similar to that of USNA, engage in physical training, and participate in various leadership and character-building activities. Upon successful completion, students receive an appointment to a U.S. service academy or are eligible for commissioning through Officer Candidate School. The NAPS mission is integral to the development of future leaders for the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps.
